Product feature: Volvo zero-emission range

Volvo CE has launched its first range of electric zero-emission construction machines

In a move towards sustainability and innovation, Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) has launched its first range of electric zero-emission construction machines in New Zealand. This comes in response to the increasing demand for environmentally friendly solutions and the need to reduce carbon emissions by local companies.

TDX, the distributor of Volvo machines in New Zealand, is introducing a range of compact electric machines, including the ECR18 and ECR25 electric compact excavators and the L25 electric wheel loaders, with more models slated for release in 2025.

"We are excited to introduce the Volvo Electric Compact Range of Construction Equipment to the New Zealand market. Volvo CE’s commitment to innovation and sustainability reflects its proactive approach to meeting our customer’s needs," says Colm Hamrogue, CEO of TDX.

Volvo says the zero-emission machines offer equivalent performance to their diesel counterparts while offering benefits such as near-silent operation, reduced vibrations, and operator comfort.

"Our TDX service and sales teams have been trained in this new electric technology. We are confident that these zero-emission machines will handle the New Zealand conditions well, having had pilot machines being tested across local conditions," says Colm.

All Volvo CE zero-emission machines in New Zealand come with efficient charging solutions. Designed for quick turnaround, these machines are fast-charge ready, with off-board solutions enabling a complete charge in approximately one hour.

Beyond their environmental benefits, Volvo says these electric machines are ideal for indoor projects and facilitate operation in noise-sensitive areas and beyond standard working hours.
